Childhood is not a crime. Support families

The criminal parent in today’s day of cps can start with normal childhood curiosity.

I’ve seen many articles lately of kids getting out of their homes and wandering the streets. Just the thought of this can be terrifying for any loving parent. All the what if’s could plummet you into a world of anxiety.
Yet unfortunately with parents stuck in this poor economy the possibility of both parents working and not getting enough sleep is a given. Then there’s the housework, meals, homework etc these parents can be exhausted without a bit of support.
Now add into that CHILDHOOD. The curious nature of children can be both comical and terrifying. We have all turned our backs for a moment only to discover the energy children have can allow them to create a cyclone of disasters in meer minutes.
The writings on the wall, your painted dog, mud across the kitchen floor and even the unsightly hair cuts. DISASTERS!!!
Of course as parents we try and supervise our kids, keep dangerous objects out of reach and remind them about inappropriate behaviour. But sometime this doesn’t stop them from wondering out into a new curiosity.
My own kids had tried to get out the front door and down the road so I put a latch on the door way out of their reach only to be told it was against code because if there was a fire my kids couldn’t get out. SO WHAT IS A PARENT SUPPOSE TO DO!!!!  My kids are much older now so I no longer have to worry about them wandering ( the hair cuts are still a possibility) but thankfully I have now surrounded myself with neighbors and friends that help me watch out for my kids (because you never know what creative idea they will come up with next)
And that bring me to the reason I’m writing this. Before you judge parents in the news who have their kids abducted by child protective services for wandering maybe you should offer support and understanding. The what if’s are troublesome but so is the dysfunctional cps system trying to turn normal parenting frustration and heart ache into a criminal offence especially when that same agency demands not to be held accountable for their poor supervision and parenting skills. Just check out the statistics on foster kids who age out and become homeless, who are missing from under the watchful eye and custody of child protective service or the thousands of articles, blogs and lawsuits from former foster kids who’ve suffered excessive abuse while in state custody
