Sandwell Council child protection decisions to be watched more closely « Express & Star

The authority has moved to tighten up regulations in a bid to ensure children in the borough could not be exploited in a similar way.

Last year, an investigation into sexual exploitation in Rotherham revealed more than 1,400 children were abused between 1997 and 2013.

Leaders in Sandwell said it was ‘vital’ to learn from what happened in the South Yorkshire town to ‘ensure children and young people of the borough are safe’.

Children’s services in Sandwell were plunged into crisis in 2013 when they were rated as inadequate as inspectors
