– A man who provided foster care to children and mentally disabled adults is accused of criminal sexual conduct against two 8-year-old girls and a mentally disabled woman who lived in his Cutlerville home.
Louis Charles Chandler, 60, already is facing trial in Kent County Circuit Court next week on two charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly molesting an 8-year-old girl at his home just south of Ideal Park.
According to the girl, who testified during a Kent County District Court on Dec. 8, Chandler would touch her private parts in the living room of the home, even as the defendant’s wife was in the same room, between January 2011 and November 2014.
In the course of investigating the case, Kent County Sheriff’s investigators were made aware of the allegations of a mentally disabled woman who said she lived with Chandler for nine days in 2008.
The woman reported, during that time, Chandler had sex with her in his home and in the restroom of South Wyoming United Methodist church, where he worked as a custodian.
The woman said she threatened to call the police, but said Chandler would not let her use the phone, according to court records.
The charges were investigated as far back as 2009, but charges were not filed until April 2. He is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one charge in the third degree.
Another girl told investigators with the sheriff’s department and Child Protective Services that Chandler criminally penetrated her when she was 8-years-old in 2010 in a theater restroom and at his home
